Eat These Healthy Foods for a Whiter, Brighter Smile

While professional dental treatments may be the best solution for teeth whitening, what you eat and drink is more important to achieve and preserve a bright, white smile. There are many natural and organic ways to protect your smile and reveal natural whiteness without having to use any of those chemical products.
Did you know that certain fruits and vegetables are full of ingredients that can protect your teeth from decay and stubborn plaque? Try eating these healthy foods more regularly and you’ll have a brighter smile with every bite!

Strawberries

white smile

This sweet summer fruit contains an enzyme called malic acid which is a natural enamel whitener. For a brighter smile, eat fresh strawberries several times a week! Their antioxidants can help reduce stain-attracting bacteria while vitamin C can help prevent gum inflammation.

Pineapple

A recent study revealed that bromelain is an effective ingredient in a stain-removing toothpaste. Well, you should know that pineapple is the only fruit that naturally contains bromelain, a component with cleansing and anti-inflammatory properties. Plus, it contains a lot of water that helps wash away acid-producing bacteria.

Citrus fruit

Citrus fruit

This might sound surprising, but even though citrus fruit is acidic, it may actually whiten and brighten the surface of the teeth. Research has proven that eating plenty of oranges, grapefruit, and other citrus fruit tends to protect tooth enamel, thanks to the increase of saliva production. Besides, their powerful enzymes kill bacteria that cause tooth decay and bad breath.

Broccoli

Broccoli
This nutritional veggie is high in fiber, and eating lots of fiber helps reduce inflammation, not only in your mouth, but in the rest of your body as well. Another benefit of these green florets is its high levels of iron that can coat the teeth enamel to help prevent stains, bacteria and acid erosion.

Carrots

Carrots

This crunchy orange root has an abrasive surface that doesn’t allow stains to stick to the surface of your teeth. Besides just having a raw carrot as a snack, try rubbing the bright roots against your teeth for a quick smooth polish. It really works!

Dairy products

Dairy products

Lactic acids in yogurt, milk and hard cheeses may help protect teeth against decay. Cheese, for instance, helps keep your teeth stay strong with minerals such as calcium and phosphorus, and protein that protects tooth enamel. Dairy products are rich in calcium, which guards and strengthens bone which holds teeth in place. Moreover, chewing hard cheese like Cheddar or Gouda encourages saliva flow which helps remove food particles that can stain. There’s another good reason to say “Cheese” and smile for the camera!

Drinking water throughout the day also helps you keeping your teeth white! Sipping water during and after a meal washes away any debris and loose plaque in your mouth.

I need help. I have a blue egg, actually 2 of them. I’m getting what loooks like black bacteria or mold growing inside the light box section of the egg. I only use it for the head brush of an electric tooth brush. After using the brush I run it under hot, hot water then dry it before putting it in the egg and turn the light on.
How do I clean it? What can I do?

      Hi Linda,
Thank you for the message, Make sure you clean the inside drip cup of your Zapi Luxe at least once a week using a cotton ball with rubbing alcoho! Water and toothpaste build-up can affect the electronics in your sanitizer. For detailed instructions on removing the cover and drip cup for easy cleaning, refer to your user manual. For other inquiries please reach out to our Customer Service by calling them at 1-888-882-2367 or email at customerservice@violife.com. They will better assist you.
